If you decide that you would like to have a practice that is designed for you and specific to your needs and goals, then we would meet first, either in person, or online, so that I can take a medical and exercise history, and to talk about what you would like to achieve from a regular yoga practice. With your permission, I will take Range of Movement (ROM) and core stability tests too. These simple movement tests take around 20 minutes and are hugely helpful in discovering where there might be tightness or weakness in muscle groups or restrictions in the joints, then I can design a practice to address these. There is no charge for this initial consultation, it is just to help me to get to know you and make a programme that you will hopefully feel immediate benefit from.
I have been lucky enough to teach some wonderful people over the years, of all ages, experience and fitness levels. Some of my clients have been with me for four or more years, one for more than ten. Whereas some clients are regular class attendees, who want to develop and deepen their practice, I have also taught expectant mothers, people recovering from injury or illness, or those suffering from stress and anxiety. One of the great benefits of private yoga classes is that clients feel more confident to develop their own practice, and thus gain so much more from any group classes they might attend in the future.
“As I get older, one of my greatest fears is seizing up. Yoga helps keep me flexible and I actually feel lighter when I walk. Coupled with Karen’s soothing voice and calm, encouraging manner, I find the whole experience uplifting, both physically and mentally”
— Richard Smith – Private Client
